Merchant guide to install, configure, and run auctions with Auction Now.
1. Install
- Open the app from the Shopify App Store or your Partner install link.
- Approve the requested scopes when prompted.
- Or from this site, enter your
store.myshopify.comdomain on the home page and open the app.
2. Enable the storefront widget
- In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Add the Auction Now app block / embed where you want auction UI (product page and/or auction listing templates, depending on your theme).
- Save the theme.
Without the theme extension enabled, shoppers will not see bidding controls even if auctions exist in admin.
3. Create an auction
- Open Auction Now in Shopify Admin.
- Go to Auctions → create a new auction.
- Choose a product (and variant as required), set start/end times, starting bid, and increment rules.
- Publish or schedule so the auction becomes active on the storefront.
4. Configure settings
Under Settings you can typically control:
- Default auction behavior and messaging
- Optional KYC: require verification when bids reach a dollar threshold
- Dispute and feedback-related options when available on your plan
5. Verification (KYC)
- Set a threshold in Settings if you want high bids gated.
- Review pending submissions under Verification — approve or reject with a clear reason when rejecting.
6. Customers & restrictions
Use Customers to look up shoppers and restrict bidding when needed (abuse, chargebacks, or store policy). Restricted customers cannot place new bids.
7. After an auction ends
- A winner triggers the checkout path (Shopify draft order / invoice at the winning price).
- Confirm the draft order / payment status in Shopify Orders as you would for any sale.
- Use Disputes if a shopper raises an issue about the auction outcome.
8. Plans
Start on the free tier. When you need higher concurrent auction limits or advanced controls, open Plans in the app and upgrade through Shopify billing.
9. Privacy & data
See the Privacy Policy for how merchant and customer data is handled, including Shopify GDPR webhooks. Configure a merchant contact email in settings so data-request notifications can reach you.
